A Bent History by Jeff Rogers 10/04/01:
The history of Bent began in 1989 when drummer Matt Kapp met Anthony Amendola in the band Prodigial Son, only to disband a year later. Matt and Anthony kept in touch over the years leading them to form the band Sludge in '94 with former Prodigial Son singer, Curtis Johnson. The search for a bass player eventually led them to John McCall, this is the start of the foundation that one day would be known as Bent. Differences in the band led them to split in '96, But Matt, Anthony, and John always kept in touch. Over time Matt and Anthony began talking about forming another band, the only problem was that Matt was in Arizona and Anthony was in Missouri, so in '98 Matt moved back to K.C. and regrouped with Anthony. Right from the begining they wanted John back, but he refused. Reluctantly one day John made his way to a practice to lend the guys his respect, there was no turning back for John, the brotherhood was back the second he walked through the door. Now with the three back together it was time to find a singer, a task harder than anyone could have imagened. After many months and even more singers they finally found one, Mike Webb. Not long after Mike joined the band they were out playing shows and gaining fans everywhere they played, but something wasn't right. As time went on Mike started a downward spiral that eventually began to effect the band, luckley fate was watching them. One night Bent was exposed to a vocalist like no one they had heard, his name was Chip Ellison. Chip was singing in the band Grynch and wasn't sure if he wanted to leave the band. After many discussions with the guys Chip decided to try a few practices and see how things felt. By the end of the first practice everybody knew that this was meant to be, the four together created a felling none had felt in any previous band before. With Chip in place the band was finally complete and the rest is to be written.
